It’s Monday morning and I can feel loathing all around me. I am sat in my jim-jams having a cup of tea and thinking about this. I don’t think it’s because I am in my jim-jams that I can sense bad feeling (though I don’t expect to be allowed back in this cafĂ© – *rimshot*)
Everyone I know hates Monday mornings, except comedians. Mondays are like Sundays for us, but without anyone else around. Even though I have to do the radio show at 4 it still feels like an illicit extra day off. No need to panic about the week ahead, the work this weekend done.
Not just gigs either, I reckon I have achieved a lot this weekend, I’m going to list it in no order of any sort. This weekend I have :-
Made a quiche, walked my dog a lot, helped my mate at a charity do in the worst possible scenario for a comedy gig to work (we got away with it), despaired at football, made a rhubarb crumble, enjoyed two gigs in Nottingham, loved listening to the latest Decemberists album, been to the tip, cut my finger badly on the blade of the blender, had a massive row, walked the dog some more, tried to be nice to my friends of the other team, been stunned into silence by ITV1′s new Saturday night show, made up after big row, watched Ponyo with Little Miss Moorhouse and failed to make Egg Custards to a high standard (got too much air in the custard I think).
Today is about editing scripts on my own (Jim has a real life and has gone on holiday). Today’s decisions include, how to deal with this script note
Pg 17 Do we need a third “never heard it” before the God pay off? And is there a slightly cleaner way of nailing that joke?
